Fundraiser for Tansey Breast Center - Live Portrait Painting Event
April 8 from 4:30 pm - 10 pm
Inspired by the British TV show "Portrait Artist of the Year", six New Orleans artists have taken the challenge to create a portrait of a "sitter" in just four hours! Using a variety of mediums from gouache to acrylic to watercolor to even hand-stitching fabric, this will be a unique opportunity to watch artists create something special right in front of you!
The "sitter" will choose their favorite portrait to take home and all other portraits will be up for auction.
All funds raised will be going to the Lieselotte Tansey Breast Center for the Ochsner Health's Breast Surgery Recovery Fund, which allows for breast cancer patients to receive post-surgery bras at no additional cost to their medical bills as well as any other needs for post-surgery supplies. As a breast cancer survivor, I can attest to how much these supplies are needed as you recover.
Doors open at 4:30.
Artists will begin painting at 5 pm and finish their portraits at 9 pm. Attendees are welcome to come and go throughout the event to check in on the progress. Artists will also have prints, etc., available for purchase.
Raffles will be held throughout the event and you must be present to win.
Donations to the fund will be welcomed as well.
